About
Iyengar Yoga

“The great advantage of yoga is that it can be practiced by anyone, irrespective of age, gender, and physical condition”
BKS Iyengar”

The Iyengar method is based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar. BKS Iyengar taught and practiced for over 75yrs. He was a student of
Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. Krishnamacharya was also a revolutionary innovator who developed and adapted yoga practices that would offer health, mental clarity, and spiritual growth to any individual in the modern-day world. He was born in a remote Indian village over 100years ago.
The Iyengar method is grounded in the ancient Indian tradition and philosophy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
The practice is accessible to anyone and adapts to the needs of the individual through precision, alignment, sequencing, and use of props (belts, bricks, chairs, ropes, bolsters). Through practice, students build strength, stamina, and flexibility and begin to improve vitality, mental clarity, emotional serenity, and spiritual well-being.
